Danny Segallead vocals - electric, acoustic and 'national' (steel) guitars - harps
Danny Segal was born in Montreal, Canada, and as a child travelled extensively with itinerant parents before settling in the UK. Somewhere along the way he picked up a love of blues which has remained one of his passions to this day. He studied in Manchester and London, appearing in numerous rock and pop outfits, his abiding interest in the blues steaming gently on the back burner. Fortunately, little by little, blues emerged from the shadows of unfashionability and Danny formed Oxford-based blues band, the Bloodhounds, in 1988. The Blue Jays, involving some ex-Bloodhounds and some new players, formed in 1991 in London and continued playing and touring until the late 1990's. Danny spent a few years doing session recordings and learning to play resonator slide guitar before teaming up with Nigel Leaper and Jack Lockwood to form the first incarnation of Mojo Bones in 2002. By day Danny is a Reader in Quantum Optics at Imperial College, London. He is married to Helen and has two children - Rose, 16, and Jack, 13. |
