Mojo Bones - The story so far...

Mojo Bones was originally formed in 2002 by Jack Lockwood, Nigel Leaper - both designers at the time for Renault Formula 1 Team - and Danny Segal. They were joined by John Woodward on bass and François Sutherland on drums.

In December 2003, following a period of inactivity after John and François left the band, Mat Heighway joined on bass, and he was joined shortly afterwards by drummer Gary Marshall.

Mojo Bones went from strength to strength, gaining a reputation for pure Blues with a twist - that of a very large number of instruments played by only 5 people! It was during this time that many of the tracks for 'Call me on the Phone Sometime' (click here to learn more or to order!) were recorded, and the band played at some of its best gigs, including Gloucester Blues Festival and the Renault Formula 1 Team's Summer Party (click here to learn more about other past gigs).

Unfortunately, in August 2005, Jack had to leave the band as he was moving to Italy to design Formula 1 cars for the Ferrari team, and the band was joined for a short time by keyboardist and guitar player Tom Bodfish. Sadly, Tom was only with the band for a short period, but Mojo Bones regrouped with a period of feverish activity and emerged in March 2006 with a tightly-knit group of 4 members, playing most of the old favourites and plenty of new ones. This 'rebirth' coincided with the release of the band's first album, 'Call me on the Phone Sometime', which contains both new recordings and older ones from earlier in the band's history. 2007 has seen relatively few gigs, as bassist Mat Heighway has been away on tour, but Mojo Bones are never idle, and since January's marathon recording session at Woodworm Studios, the painstaking work of preparing the band's second album has continued.
